Does anyone know of a good household item used to keep fly's away?

Question:I have alot of flys that accumulate in my garage and backyard and am looking for a household item I can use that will discourage them.

Any idea's?

Plastic streamers, You hang them on the door, and they move with the wind, they are great thing´s for stopping the fly´s coming in, You can buy them ready made, they come in bright colors.
