Cost to have a seperate garage/shop built behind my house?

Question:Can anyone ballpark a price to build a 20'x40', single story shop? I'd like concrete floor, large garage door, insulated, heating and lighting.

PS - I live in Ontario Canada.

Thanks

Answers:
I've been researching this on the internet, and the prices can really vary. (I imagine the extras cause the variances). I would expect a 40 X 20 could be as high as 14 to 18k.
There are some options though..I've been looking at the kits. The company sends you the pre-fabricated pieces (even claiming that you don't need a saw) and you assemble the pieces according to the enclosed plans. They are less, but still steep. I've been ooking at 20 X 16 sizes, and they're pretty steep, that's why I estimate your cost based on the 40 foot length. My sister bought one locally (in SC) and she paid close to 3k (20 X 10). They assembled it and delivered it. It was a very nice, quailty building. So, I think you'll come out ahead by staying close to home. Maybe even some of the home gardening, do-it-yourself stores have something that will suffice.

good luck

If you buy the materials, probably close to $10,000 for labor.

Mind the contractors, though. They'll insist in selling you the materials while profiting on what you'd save buying thm yourself...
