What are some sources of free or very cheap rain barrels...or the barrels that can be made into rain barrels?
Question:Thanks!
Answers:
Go to your nearest car wash, they often have 40 gallon plastic barrels that they can't get rid of. That's where I got my (free) barrels from.
I just saw some for free on www.craigslist.com in the Tampa Fl area. maybe you can find them in your area.
Go to an industrial supply house and order (or buy in stock) blue plastic 50 gallon drums (food grade). They cost less than US$50 (or at least they did a few years ago). I hope that's cheap enough for you.
Or, you could go buy used 50 gallon steel drums, rinse them, and line them with plastic liners. 'They' make liners for 55-gallon drums.

Look for ads for food quality plastic barrels. 50 gallons. Usually about 10 bucks around here. They are really heavy plastic, I've had mine for over 15 years and just now one of them is getting a crack. You can also run an ad in Wanted.
Also, places like Home fix-up, hardware store may sell something you could use-but not cheap. Live well, do good and love deep.
Where I live, clean plastic drums go for $10. Not many places giving them away.
