How to get rid of horrible smell in house trailer?
Question:I purchased a house trailer that had been abandoned for at least a year. It had a dead puppy in it wrapped in a blanket.
The smell in the place was horendous. We ripped up all the carpet, took the walls down and removed the insulation. Still, it stinks to hell. What can we do. Please help!

Ok I have been there before honey. First off the puppy was most likely not the source of the smell. If it was removed; it's coming from another source. First let me ask you this check the floors and walls and if there are wet areas that very well could be the smell.(my uncle had a mobile home with a few leaky areas and believe it or not that wood can smell to high hell. try to replace the wettest areas if u can. also if any mice or roaches were found remove the remains because believe it or not they leave a bad odor. once u move in.ventilate good..slap on some paint and burn inscense.good luck
did you use bleach? Did you turn on the airconditioner to air it out? Did you paint the structure before re insulating and drywalling?
Open the crawl underneath- and air it out, there may even be something else dead under it.
One of the easiest way to rid smells in your house trailer, would be to burn ordinary candles. The carbon in the burning flame absorbs odours. Be careful though. Then you could burn incense for a while. The smell and odour should disappear. Good Luck!
Open the windows, and let it air out for a day or so.
the smell may be coming from another place, i have had to inspect trailer homes that an animal has crawled into the underside of plastic sheeting that holds the insulation in place, and has died such as cat's, raccoons, possums, and skunks. this may be the likely cause if the trailer was abandoned for any length of time.
OK now to fix it, get prepared before you go in, or under in this case, you don't want to have to go in twice carry flashlight, knife, bag of some kind. look very carefully for any unusual bulges in the film if you find something try to cut it out, bag it up and get the hell out from under there. as it will be pretty rough at that point.
remove some skirting panels to vent it and air out the house for several days, that should do it.
i have done this before and yes it did take care of the problem right away. GOOD LUCK!!
