Pool on Septic Tank?
Question:We are getting ready to set up our pool 18x4 grass is up and ground is level and we just found out that the septic tank will be partically under the pool. Is this going to be ok or not? Thanks
The pool will only be set up for the summer and taken down when it gets cooler. We are in the south east so its really warm her. Its also a concret tank.
we are also considered rural so no public sewage
Answers:
If you need to service the tank, the pool will need to come down early. Otherwise, you should be fine. Unless you have other problems with your tank, it should be more than strong enough to hold up your pool without trouble. The earth on top of the tank will tend to distribute the weight a bit as well, which helps even more.
Another problem I just thought of, if the authority in charge of septics in your area should come around, you may need to take it down early as well. If your area is like most others, I would think this is extremely unlikely.
".considered rural so no public sewage"
So swimming in your own sh!t is better than swimming in your neighbor's sh!t?
A pool that gets set up and then comes down at the end of summer? Hmmm...Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi? I could be wrong.
Doesnt sound such a good idea. 18x4 could mean 18 ft diameter and 4 ft deep which I work out will contain almost 30 tonnes of water when full. Would you park a full heavy truck on your septic tank and expect it not to collapse? OK, not all of the weight will be on the septic tank structure but I would choose a different location. Whatever the dimensions of the pool, work out for yourself at 1 tonne per cubic metre what the full pool will weigh. My modest pool at home has 80 tonnes of water sitting in it.
By the way, is it just coincidence that this is exactly identical to the question posed by redlasvegas81 a little while back? And I mean identical even to the words used !!
