Can anybody explain why flies don't like Ziploc bags w/ water and a penny?
Question:I had some flys in my house that i couldn't seem to get rid of,between the door being left open and the damp weather and so on. I tried this tale of taking a ziplock putting a penny in the ziplock filling the bag with water, enough to cover the penny and taping it to the widows of the back door and windows. sounds crazy, doesn't it.?..It works!! Now, does anyone know why it works? if you have never tried this and have a fly issue... try this its amazing! if you have tried this and know why it works, please let me know. Thanks

I was in Honduras for a few months, and most resturants had outdoor seating, on the roof above the tables there were many clear plastics bags filled with water, sorry no penny, or coin inside. I asked why, and the locals said because when flies near the bag they see a fly ten times bigger than they are and will not come near. At home in the states it is a lot more quieter than a fly zapper.
I've never heard of that, but I would think that it's largely coincidental.
But then again, I could be wrong. It just sounds like a very weird thing -- I don't see how it could work.
Never heard of that. But I'll try it in our summer.Thank's for the tip.
Seriously, this is just a coincidence.
Do tell more,.... u onto somethng
Alot of people here in Alabama do that and swear it works. I tried it at my house and couldn't tell a difference. It didn't work for me at all.
this question was asked and answered here yesterday
There is more than one theory behind this home remedy, and the first theory hinges on the natural instincts and the poor eyesight of flies. Clear bags of water are said to cast images that to a fly resemble spider webs, and flies steer clear of anything that resembles a web. The other theory claims the reflection of the water disorients flies, and this illusion is said to be an effective way to get rid of flies and greatly control their numbers. Whatever the reason, this home remedy is said to really work.
