Clematis - not growing well - any ideas?

Question:

Answers:
I'm assuming you have something for it to climb to. When I got my home there was already one growing without a trellis. I put one up and tied the flower to it to help it grow.

The roots are shaded. They were covered by leaves, and now they are covered by a sweet pea that is growing in front of it. Mine is planted where it is in full sun from first thing in the morning til around 2:30. Hope this helps!

There is a ton of information on them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/clematis...

they like their roots to be shady and the leaves sunny
