How does one go about moving a 5,000 lb fireplace?

Question:I have a friend who wants to move their outdoor fireplace to their new home but it weight 5000 lbs. Is it possible to do that? The distance is 300 miles.

Answers:
It's possible- you just need to hire a freight company. They can't use a liftgate though because too heavy so will probably cost your friend close to $1000 just to move it.
Good luck!

it's cheaper to rebuild one at the new house. why go through the stress of trying to move it.
Hire a crane company to put it on their truck and move it for you. You should find a company in yellow pages under crane companies.
Although possible, the real question is why do it?

You probably can build a new one cheaper than moving the old one. However, if you really really want to move it, most moving companies can arrange to have it done . . . for a fee, of course. Or you can arrange with a construction company (one that uses lifts and cranes) to move it for you. The question is, how much will they charge. I'm guessing it'll be more than you will want to pay.
