Well, I checked and there's no "Cookson Lockstitcher 744" fan site. But that got me thinking, who would value this old relic you have?
Museums. Historical societies. Collectors.
Now, museums and historical societies have to be chosen carefully if you want to determine interest. The Newark Museum in Newark, NJ for example has a large and robust American Arts collection; the curator is also very active in decorating and showing the attached Ballantine House which is around the same age as your sewing machine... which makes it a possible acquisition for the museum because it "fits".
Collectors? Well, I have to leave that to you. Suffice to say, people will collect anything so you are sure to find someone who'd be over the moon to get your item. You'd be looking for collectors of early American domestic/ household machines, textile interests, etc.
type the name into your web browser and a site may come up. send the info to the firm and with a bit of luck they will contact you with the info you need.
try google or yahoo anwers, if you stated what it did it might help.
It ain't worth crap to me.
