What kind of bee is this?


Question:It was very long/big, yellow and black striped back, not fuzzy, and was in the woods burrowed about an inch in the ground.I live in North East Maryland. I have been clearing some woods behind my house, not the big trees, but my dog was digging and found it. Luckily she didn't get stung.

Might have been a horntail. They come in several color patterns. The long thing in the back isn't a stinger but rather an egg-depositor.
