How can I get rid of the gnat problem in my house?

Question:For about 3 days now, I have had to deal with gnats in my kitchen and in my bathrooms. I have eliminated any ways for them to get fruit or vegetables. I have cleaned all the dishes and no food has been left out. I don't understand why they are just in the kitchen and bathrooms. Are they drain gnats and if so, how do I eliminate them??

Answers:
There is obviously something that's attracting them. Maybe you should go to a hardware store and buy a bomb. Bomb your house and hopefully they'll go away.

They love still water. Check you don't have a mild blockage in your pipes somewhere. Don't leave dishes soaking overnight. Good luck.
We started having this problem at my house when myhusband brought his stupid basil plant in the house. We have cleaned and cleaned and we cant get rid of them all.
house plants in the soil let soil completly dry out before watering and place plastic bag around plant tie for 24 hours
