What makes the holes in the leaves of my bell pepper plants?
Question:I found little green bugs, oval, and less than 2mm long, on the bottoms of the leaves. I am assuming they are the culprits. How do I get rid of them ?..witout killing the bees, if possible. I live in northern CA.

er..try pesticides. Shouldn't there be some kinds that don't affect larger insects? If that dosen't work, torch those little buggers.
Sounds like aphids. Use insecticidal soap. It decomposes into the soil and you can use it right up to one-day before harvest. However, be careful. Spray the entire plant, top and bottom of leaves with the solution, let it set for a few minutes, then gently spray with clean water. Don't spray in full sun. Insecticidal soap left on a plant is very likely to burn the leaves to a crisp in full-sun/hot weather.
You will have to repeat once a week. The aphids will be back. But you can keep them under control this way.
By the way, some types of pepper plants have naturally occurring "holes" in the leaves. Doesn't mean that anything is eating them, necessarily.
I don't know that much about plants, but when ever bugs eat my plants I buy this snail-plant eating bug food. It does no hurt animals or any thing else. Just the snails and small bugs. You can get it in the garden section at Home Depot, or mabye even Wal-Mart or Target.
I hope you find a solution.

it sounds like aphids... they do carry some natural pesdisides at the garden store or jst regular. But like the former person said.. u have to make sure u get it completely covered under neath..stem...soil... tops..
I had them on my roses.. did that & they finally went away. But my advice to u on the peppers that worked for me... feed them.. since i've been feeding my roses..they r healthier & no aphids ( knock on wood) I read that somewhere... healthy plants ...less bugs
