What's the best humane way to catch a mouse?
Question:I can't find a Have-A-Hart trap locally, and I don't want the mouse as a houseguest long enough for one to ship.

You can try this:
Bait a rectangular plastic bathroom wastebasket (slippery new plastic) with bread, sunflower seed, or peanut butter and put it in a place where mice are known to be present. Put it along a wall, rather than in the open. With it still vertical tilt the basket slightly (a piece of wood or something under one side of the bottom. Then place a "ladder" of bricks or books that the mouse can climb to get to the rim. From there it will jump or slide down the side of the basket and will be unable to climb back up the slippery surface. Set the trap before going to bed. Check it early the next morning. If the mouse is caught, transport it outside and tip the basket over gently to release it. Don’t worry about it jumping out of the basket at you – it shouldn't be able to get out on its own. The wastebasket should then be washed thoroughly with a diluted (l:30) solution of bleach. Hope this helps.
A shotgun.trust me they wont feel a thing.
In the states we have sticky paper that works pretty well and they have little plastic box traps you can buy at any hardware store.
Sticky traps...
Talk to an exterminator - they sometimes use traps, and maybe they'll sell you one. They put poison in them, but you don't have to, and you can release your catches. But make sure you release them far from your home! Otherwise they'll just follow the trail back in.
a mouse trap and peanut butter
You can go to a local walmart, target, etc & buy one of those round traps. It's called the D-Con No View No Touch Mouse Trap. You turn it til it clicks & stays open then the "door" just closes once the mouse is inside & then you can just carry it outside & let it go. The bait goes in the bottom of it.
I've the same mouse problem and I hope there's some inventions which I can use to prevent mouse from coming in without rearing a cat.
