What precautions do you recommend I take when applying for apartment lease?
Question:They are getting the place ready, however they showed it to me while repairs are in process. It has been painted, however, the carpet and tile in the bathroom and kitchen needs to be changed and the fridge replaced, there are many other things that need attention such as the smoke detector missing, smoke extractor over the stove seems very old, the appliances seem very old. The leasing agent promises that everything will be great by the end of the month -when I want to move. However, should I ask him to put it in writing and maybe ask that the deposit be paid only like a 20% and the rest at move in?
