I live in Tampa, FL. around the Bay area. I have noticed little CRABS everywhere. HELP! They are a nuisance!

Question:We just moved into a brand new house about a mile or two away from the beach. There are small crabs EVERYWHERE and it is grossing me out. We have found them in our home as well and we have no idea how they are getting inside. It's a new house and we can't find any cracks or holes that they could be getting into. It is totally disgusting to walk outside only to find crabs everywhere. I have a 1 year old son who loves outside but I hate the idea of him being swarmed with pinching crabs. The bugs out here are bad enough, having to deal with crabs is the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm sick of it.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get rid of them?? Is this something that a pest control company can take care of? I'm hating this so much. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I get rid of these nuisances?

Land crabs are preditors...they eat bugs..LOTS of different knds of bugs..the crabs are probably the primary reason you are abel to set and enjoy your time on the computar..
If they were gone...some other insect would take over the ecological nitch the crabs are controleing...
Conside if the bugs you would 'inherit' would be better, or worse neighbors than are the crabs, before you go messing with things.

Maybe the crabs are more a 'friend' to you than you are aware of.
