Question:My mom is having a mothers day luncheon and she is looking for creative ideas on a center piece and stuff to put in the purse/bags that she bought for everyone at the table.

Along with the Chicken Soup for the Mothers Soul, she could add a soup spoon with a ribbon tied around it and a container of Campbell's chicken soup (the small lunch size) and use that as the decorating theme.
Another idea is to use vibrant spring colors as the theme. A floral tablecloth with a variety of spring colored napkins or the reverse - solid tablecloth and floral napkins - or solid tablecloth and napkins in a variety of colors. Each place setting could have individual spring flowers or a plant in a pretty small pot for the ladies to take home. A beautiful pedestal cake plate in the center of the table will be a lovely center piece. Flowers dipped in sugar could grace the cake. Use the best tableware you have and add a few candles to help create atmosphere.
The purses could hold a flower scented votive candle and candle holder decorated with a flower. A seed packet of the same or similar flowers would be nice...and perhaps a small book with a title like "How the Garden Grows" (made up name) or "From Mothers to Daughters -
With Love".

For a party favor, she can give out Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul. Chicken Soup makes mini versions of the book with about 5 stories in it, and it's small enough to tuck into a little pouch. She can probably get them at Border's, Barnes & Noble, etc.
Dainty handkerchiefs or lace dollies could hang out of the purse/bag. Then put a pretty tea cup and saucer inside with several tea bags of a flavored tea. Include a recipe or box of biscuits or scones.
Or glue the tea cup to the saucer and place flowers inside the cups. Also glue a tea spoon to the saucer.
