Why do people have to build in every open space available?

Question:Across the street they are wrecking a house bc the owner sold it to some builders. There is all of this wildlife in the 2 acre area. I saw a family of 5 squirrels running aroung and bunnies eating the grass. There are also all of these birds. There homes will all be destroyed. And they need to cut the gas cables and all of that stuff. And the gas cable was in our yard and there is now 2 4 foot deep holes in our yard bc of the builders who only want money. The workers from Nicor who dug the hole felt so bad and they didn't want to do it but the building company made them even after they called them to tell them it was in another persons lawn. I am 14 y/o boy and don't want to hold a hunting tournament to get rid of homeless animals. And it is illegal. They are going to start wrecking the house soon. SHould I tell my parents that I am sad. It was so peaceful there and now the poor animals. They could leave some open land in the world and not build all of these houses. There is 4 houses.

That's a very good question. Unfortunately, we have a larger population than ever before. People need housing. And contractors are ever ready to take their money and put up monstrous houses that are built in a week.
I wish I had an answer for you. Yes, tell your parents you are sad about this. If I were your Mom I would want to know how you are feeling.
When you are older you will have the ability to choose where you want to live and how you want to live. You can go to an area where development is slower. One good place to have a home if you cherish wildlife is next to a parkland that is federally protected (States). Living next to it will enable you to enjoy the wildlife without the threat of someone coming in and putting up a condo or a supermarket and displacing the animals that live there. There are still some areas where you can live next to a forest and not disturb the wildlife in it. Another good choice would be in a town close to a park, where you could go camping or hiking.
When you are 18, assuming you live in the US, you will be able to vote for people who take the protection of our environment seriously. Carefully consider your voting choices and vote for those who keep their word on the issues . Even if they say they are for conservation, check their voting record to make sure that they consistently vote in favor of protecting wildlife and parks.
I agree with you. Our world has lost so much of it's beauty because of greed and ill-planned development.
Maybe your parents can find ways for you to get involved with the protection of wildlife and land. It may be too late for the house across the street, but doing something about the future may help you feel better, and you will know that you're doing your part, even though you're 14. Write letters to politicians, newspapers, TV programs. Let the world know how you feel. You may be surprised at the response you get.
Good luck and blessings to you.

It is sad that nature needs to be displaced to build houses. Unfortunately, it's all about supply and demand. When people stop demanding more houses, builders will stop building. The same can be said of automobile companies building all these new cars and polluting the environment. If demand stops or slows, so will production.

You might talk to your parents about adding some trees and bushes to your own backyard. Birdfeeders will lure the birds over and if you create a little sanctuary, the rabbits and squirrels will come too.
It's all about MONEY. Sad isn't it.
