...i know a brake is used to bend sheet metal
A brake. Rent one at your vinyl siding supply house, or tool renting company.
Hint; If you are going to try to make your own using a brake, and the size of the louvers are, say, 3/4" high by 2" wide, (common size), cut 2 or three wooden blocks, 3/4" x 2" to use as spacers. It saves alot of measuring for each louver.
Start; Put material in the brake, lay 2- 3/4" blocks on the edge of the sheet , one at each end. Clamp the brake, remove the blocks, bend the sheet 90 degrees.
Unclamp the brake, pull the sheet foward, lay the 3/4" blocks against the bend. push the sheet in , clamp the brake, remove the blocks, bend the sheet 90 degrees.
Unclamp the brake, pull the material all the way out, turn it over, put it back in, lay the 3/4" blocks on the sheet, one at each end and flush with the edge of the last bend, clamp the brake, remove the blocks, bend 90 degrees.
Unclamp the brake, slide the sheet forward 2", put the 2" blocks next to the bend, clamp the brake, remove the blocks, bend the 90 degrees.
Repeat till finished.
