Grocery shopping advice needed!!plz help..?
Question:I am new to America from Asia and I haven't seen 90% of the brands in the grocery store before... Could you tell me which brands are good (you usually buy)for these following items so I won't waste money on the expensive and bad quality ones. Thanks so much!
Detergent
Toilet paper
instant noodles (or any other fast food that I can store just in case?)
mayonnaise (for sandwich)
canned tuna
mineral water
cooking oil
shampoo

Detergent -- Tide (the best by far...)
Toilet paper -- Scott (It works really well, lasts a long time, and doesn't flake apart)
instant noodles (or any other fast food that I can store just in case?) -- "Top" Ramen
mayonnaise (for sandwich) -- Best or Hellmans
canned tuna -- Get the "pouch" tuna -- any brand
mineral water -- Klarbrunn's or Perrier
cooking oil -- Any brand is fine. I prefer to cook with Extra Virgin Olive Oil
shampoo -- AVOID SUAVE. Most other brands are fine.
Tempons -- You'll have to ask someone else on that one :).
Tide detergent, Scott toilet tissue, ramen noodles, Hellman's mayo, mineral h2o?, StarKist tuna, Wesson oil, Pert plus shampoo, Playtex tampons(super). Hope my opinion helps.
detergent.. i use Food Lion brand called Clean, it smells great and works good also.
Toilet paper, doesnt really matter which kind.. I get the cheap ones, they all work the same.
mayonaise- I prefer miracle whip.. it works better if you are using it to cook with
canned tuna- this really doesnt matter.. I have used 2 different cans (one cheap and one namebrand) in the same food item... nobody can tell the difference. I prefer the light tuna with water.
mineral water- don't really know.. I boil all my water and let it cool down and put it in empty jugs.. best way and you are insured that all bacteria and other particles are dead.
cooking oil- vegetable. most widely used in cooking for homecooking
shampoo- i use tresemme'... it comes in huge bottles, and costs 3 something.. the conditioner works great for my hair as i have long hair.. and is easier to manage
tampons- I use playtex or the sport kinds.. the offname brands ones are good also, but cardboard is not comfortable going in you... playtex is great for leak protection.
ramen noodles are good.. cheap and easy and you can mix any meat in there that you want. Cup o'noodles is my preference though.. a little more costly, but tastes great.
Canned items are good in your cabinets for a long time. I have tons of veggies, and quick boxed items in my cabinet.
You have to experiment to see which items you like and don't like.. its the only way to find out.. each person has their own preference.
Some of those things I just buy the cheapest one in the store. But there are a few items where I always buy the same brand :
Scott toilet paper - the best on the market
Top Ramen instant noodles
Hellmans Mayo
Starkist tuna (makesure you get the one in the pouch)
Detergent- Tide is good but expensive, Gain is cheaper and good
Toilet Paper - charmin is the softest
Noodles - Ramen, Suddenly pasta, Lipton
Mayo - Blue Plate good and better than Miracle Whip
Tuna - Starkist but any really even store brand
Cooking Oil - any really even store brand
Shampoo - Dove, Pantene, Loreal, Infusium is good but expensive
Tampons - Kotex
Cheese - any really even store brand, Kraft
