It's so hot !

Question:Our house, for some reason is extremely hot and the air conditioning doesn't work, except for in only these two rooms which is the guest room and the room with one couch and two tables. I can't BARE the heat, what do I do? Like, are there any ideas if I'm not in any of those two rooms? Thank you! I appreciate it so much!

Answers:
If you've got it, set a big bowl of ice in front of a table top fan to blow across the room.

Invest in a few floor standing fans and , if you don't have them ceiling fans. Also, keep the shades on any windows pulled to, and as few electrical appliances on as possible. Believe it or not, they generate a fair amount of heat. You may feel like your living as a vampire for a while until the heat passes, but it really will help. I live in an old victorian home which as never had central A/C installed. We have quite a few window units (which are also a great option) and for the rooms that don't have window units we have ceiling fans. Also, if it gets unbareable. Take a very warm shower. I know that sounds odd, but taking a cold shower will cause your body temperature to rise fast when you get out of the shower. If you take a warm shower, when you get of of the shower, your body temperature will actually start to fall, and continue for a little while. OTher than that, just drink plenty of water, try to stay away from heavy foods, and heavy clothes! Good Luck!!
Couple of things that might help. Keep a damp towel around your neck and use it to wipe down your face and arms now and then. Use ceiling fans. Use fans blowing over a bowl of ice. Keep these rooms as dark as possible, i.e. keep out the sunlight and turn off hot lights. Hope this helps.
Yea that's pretty annoying but i got an idea. it sounds weird but give it a try. Take a shower. Your prob thinking take a cold shower right? WRONG your body temperature adjusts to the water temperature so it's the same level. when you hop out, your temperature drops so you get cold. I can't really explain it but it works.
Maybe you could use some window fans to get a cross breeze going. Open your windows and draw the blinds or drapes closed. Always have a window fan going on the shady side of the house. If you can afford it, you really need more insulation and an attic fan installed.
