How did you feel when your house sold and the new owners trashed your hard work?

Question:Did they let the house decay, or did they keep it up and maybe even make improvements?
My house has gone to the dogs, it went from best on the block to worst in one year.

Answers:
I brought a house and yard back from the dead. It took me 2 years of backbreaking work.
My family expanded and I left.
The new owner has no desire to do maintenance or yard work. I don't lose sleep over it, but it does disappoint me.

My house was a labor of love and tried to find buyers that cared about it as much as I did. Also it is a state of mind; I enjoyed it while I was there and now I'm not so if they want to trash something of value, I'm not going to let it effect or affect me, dammit.
I haven't been in this position myself (new homeowner), but it't not really "your" house anymore. That being said, I would probably be upset. You do have to realize though, that work that you did was an investment. When you sold your house, you cashed in on the investment. Think of it in terms of the stock market. You buy a stock, it goes up in value, then you sell it for a profit. At this point, it does feel a little good to see the stock price decrease to know you made the right decision. That's my logical response, but as I said previously, I would hate to see all that work, effort and money go to waste.
It depends on how long you lived there. If you loved it and felt safe there for years, then it becomes a part of you. I know how you feel but now you can give yourself to your new house.
It hurt me more to see my ex put a lawn where my veggie garden used to be and paint my rock garden rocks (eww) white!

When I move from this, my first house with every inch being perennial gardens and no lawn, I'm potting some up and taking them with me! I won''t go back to see what they've done because I know it will break my heart.

That said, I realize by then I'll be ready for a new place with a bunch of new possibilities to keep me busy so I won't let it bother me to the point of distraction. I'm sure they will make huge changes. But after all, we all need to 'piss' on our territory don't we?
i know how you are feeling, but you sold it, and they own it, they can do to it what they want it is there's,..
