if you are moving into a new place, that is part of a scheme of houses.. ask for the carpenter on the job.. he will usually be a sub contractor..ask him will he do it as a 'Nixer' it's what we call a job that you need done outside of working hours, the carpenter will more than likely jump at the chance because he is already on site, and it's handy cash
Best advise is get prices from the builder and a couple of reputable contractors...Typically the home builder would do it for cheaper but from what I`ve seen (my own home included) the quality seems to be lacking. An independent contractor who does decks for a living would typically do a much nicer job.
Also whoever does it..be sure to have a permit pulled from your municipality. The inspections they perform are for your own safety and well being... Good Luck!!
