What do you put in a Hope Chest?
Question:I want to start one for my daughter, and gradually add things. She is only five so I am afraid if I pick out dishes and things she would hate them by the time she got it.
Answers:
A hope chest is filled with memories as well as future keepsakes. A china set would be great, because the age on the china at the time she is independent enough to move out the value would have increased.
Silver sets, music through the ages,pictures,scrapbooks,ceram... whatnots, toys, lunchboxes, all kinds of paraphernalia.
I believe this will get you started.
My sister has every original Elvis record with seals unbroken still in her hope chest.
There is no telling what they are worth today.
your **** and hope they grow
Faith... and charity
It's a very sweet sentiment, but you are right that anything you put in, she probably wouldn't want. Start an investment for her instead and right a letter to her each year. When she gets married, give her the letters and the money. The letters will mean more to her than any dishes or wine glasses.
Great items for hope chests are family heirlooms.
