Wilting tomato plant?
Question:the other day my cherry tomato plant was looking beautiful and little tomatos have just started to flourish. now it looks totally wilted! it is growing taller than the cage. is it getting too much sun or does it just need a bigger cage?
Answers:
Sounds like it needs a good water and a feed. Try some liquid feed and some sea weed emultions that always perks it up.
i had the same problem. tomatoes grow on a vine so they will loop around the cage. your problem is either too much water, too much sun or too little sun since it's still growing. or it could be something happenning over night. it depends if it is an indoor or outdoor plant.
I doubt the size of the cage is the problem. We probably need more information to give you a good diagnosis.
1. How much water is it getting?
2. Is it just wilting or are the leaves turning brown or yellow?
3. When was the last time you fertilized it.?
4. Where do you live?
Tomatoes LOVE hot sun. I don't know about desert areas, but here in Minnesota the more sun they get, the happier they are.
Tomatoes are susceptible to wilt-- if the leaves at the base are turning yellow and falling off, that may be your problem...
