What is the best fertilizer to use for my Dendrobiums?

Question:I have read different information on which type of fertilizer to use with my dendrobiums. Some say used a balanced fertilizer like a 10-10-10 or a 12-12-12 but then other says it depends on what type of soil it's planted in and others say it depends on what stage the plant is in. The one thing every article I have read agrees on is fertilize weakly, weekly. Any suggestions?

Answers:
The best fertilizer for all plants is compost. Chemical fertilizers are harmful to earthworms and and other microbial soil life. They also deposit toxic nitrates in groundwater, depleting a vital nonrenewable resource and they can cause eutrophication in aquatic and marine ecosystems as well (since groundwater flows into those systems). Eutrophication means excessive nutrients accumulate in a lake, stream, river, pond, or ocean, causing harmful algal blooms that deplete the water of oxygen when they rot, killing all the wildlife in the water.

Please go organic.
