HOA information please...?

Question:I have a home that has an HOA, it was built in the 1980s. is there anyway that me and my neighbors can say that we don't want HOA on our community?

Answers:
The only way to disband an HOA is for people to vote on it. Dependent on what area of the country, county, city you are in you may need 100% unanimity or a simple majority. Your first step would be to find the deed that created the HOA. This will detail the original covenants. This will be helpful. Some covenants state that you must perfom X to modify Y covenant. If your HOA covenants say 100%, but it is not in the original, you have an excellent legal loophole.
