Why do cockroaches turn black and emit a foul odor when they are squished?

We don't have cockroaches here, so can't tell ya.
I asked two entomologists (ppl who study bugs) why they flip over n their backs when they die. The answer was they didn't know. I think it is the same with this. Entomologists don't even know.
