My tulips bulbs never flower, all they do is send up a single leaf.what's wrong?

Question:

Answers:
Tulips are notoriously fussy. If they aren't getting enough light or cold enough temperatures, they won't rebloom. If they get crowded, the won't rebloom. If they don't have enough energy they won't rebloom. When the leaf starts to poke out of the ground, give it a boost with a slow release fertilizer. Let them die naturally. Don't cut the leaves off after the flower finishes blooming. When the leaves die back, they've given the bulb the energy to bloom next year. Some of our bulbs we bought on sale at Home Depot. It took three years before they bloomed! I think they were immature and it took awhile to store enough energy in the bulb to bloom.

If they come back every year and the leaf looks healthy, odds are it needs a little boost of fertilizer. Otherwise, you can dig them up and start all over. This is why most commercial landscapers get rid of their bulbs each spring rather than trying to replant them. It's too difficult to guarantee rebloom.

Also some tulips because they're so hybridized also just quit blooming after a few years. You can keep them but there are no guarantees.

nothing, why do you ask
Are they depressed??
Over fertilization often causes vegetation without flowering...
i don't know but that sounds very serious, you need to talk to a bulbing doc.
dig em out
They need more sunlight.
Either they are getting too much nitrogen, they are too deep, or they are worn out.

Dig them up, store them for the summer, and replant them in the fall - only about 3-5 inches deep.
did you leave the growth on last year ... the growth from this year should be left on until it becomes brown ... so sending all the energy back inti the bulb ... once the first true leaf appears you should start feeding with a tomato feed . this will encourage the bulb to produce a flower.
