When is the best time?
Question:To plant flowers in hanging baskets and what kind of flowers do you recommend. this is my first time planting any thing like this because i usually kill any thing that i plant.
Answers:
hi the best time is now. and lobelia is the best you can get different colours and different types trailing lobelia and when they start to grow they look amazing in full bloom and do not need much looking after you can't go wrong i promise
Just go to the place where the sell flowers. They will show you what kind of earth to use and what flowers to plant.
The best time is right after breakfast when you are no longer hungry and the bulbs or seeds are in least danger of consumption.
(But seriously, Folks...)...
Any garden shop will probably be happy to help you. Without knowing What you plan to plant it's kind of hard to help you.
Good luck.
contact your local garden sociaty they will have members that sell baskets complete and ready to go easy and they are great value
I suggest you go to a couple of local nurseries and see what they have already growing in hanging baskets. Tell them how much sun and/or shade you have in the spot you will be hanging the basket and let them take the mystery out of it for you.
There should be a large selection and the prices should be reasonable.
Hope this helps. :)
why dont you try a window box first? baskets can be fiddly things and by your own admission you kill everything you plant. more or less the same plants are used anyway and all garden centres will now have them in stock. try not to use too many different colours and in my experience three in any one containers is enough because otherwise your eyes will make a blur and the individual shades will not stand out.
plant now. put pansy's say in the centre and trailing plants in the outer part of the basket. you will have to water twice a day, don't let the baskets dry out
you can buy baskest already made up from most garden centers
