Venus fly trap tips?

Question:hello

ive had two many venus fly traps to name in the past year or so, and everysingle one always died, and i think i just found out why, i always used cooled boiled water to give them, but i found out that boiled water doesnt remove the minerals that are harmful to the plants, and that its best to only use rain water, or distiled water

well since where i live there not much rain right now. i wont be able to get that, so what is distilled water???

thanks

Answers:
distilled water is filtered water, it has all the minerals filtered outof it.
just use a water filter like brittax to make it.
but I have news for you, mine died using distilled water too!

dont grow them to big lol.
u can buy it ina gallon jug at walmarts
I alyays gave mine botteld water and it lived untill I forgot to water it for a week but it lived for quit a bit of time
The optimal conditions in which to grow a Venus Fly Trap would be in a terrarium because this plant needs high humidity. If this is not available, however, stand the pot on a saucer of water, (avoid tap water as this will harm the plant - rainwater is ideal), and site the pot in full sun in a warm room. Acid soil should be used and fertiliser avoided - allow the plant to feed itself.

To make a cheap terrarium - take a plastic 2litre drink bottle and cut off the base as close to the part that starts to bend into the rounded shape. Place it over the potplant you are using. Leaving the lid off. Catch flies in a trap and keep live. You could put a nice piece of meat into a bottle with the lid on and cut a small hole on the side so that the flies can smell it and get into the hole. Having them trapped and fresh should counter the problem of not having an open air plant pot for the fly trap. You can then put a live fly into the plants bottle from time to time and let nature do it's stuff.

As for what is the difference between distilled water and normal water..Distilled water is water that has virtually all of its impurities removed through distillation. Distillation involves boiling the water and re-condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving contaminants behind.

If you used Deionized water (DI water or de-ionized water; also spelled deionised water, see spelling differences) is water that lacks ions, such as cations from sodium, calcium, iron, copper and anions such as chloride and bromide. This means it has been purified from all other ions except H3O+ and OH−, but it may still contain other non-ionic types of impurities such as organic compounds.

This type of water is produced using an ion exchange process. Deionized water is similar to distilled water, in that it is useful for scientific experiments where the presence of impurities may be undesirable.

In other words it has even less impurities then distilled water.

You can buy it from most DIY stores.
Distilled Water is better for you in some ways when needed and is not good in other ways for everyday use.

Distilled water is an active absorber and when it comes into contact with air, it absorbs carbon dioxide, making it acidic. The more distilled water a person drinks, the higher the body acidity becomes.

There is a correlation between the consumption of soft water (distilled water is extremely soft) and the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Cells, tissues and organs do not like to be dipped in acid and will do anything to buffer this acidity including the removal of minerals from the skeleton and the manufacture of bicarbonate in the blood.

Distilled water tends to be acidic and can only be recommended as a way of drawing poisons out of the body. Once this is accomplished, the continued drinking of distilled water is a bad idea.

Fasting using distilled water can be dangerous because of the rapid loss of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) and trace minerals like magnesium, deficiencies of which can cause heart beat irregularities and high blood pressure. Cooking foods in distilled water pulls the minerals out of them and lowers their nutrient value.

I drink distilled water one every 1 to 2 times a year due to the minerals it has in it. Mineral are taken out of Drinking water.
