Little bugs BUGGING me at work!!?

Question:I work in an office...nothing out of the ordinary. But recently there was one pesky tiny bug circling my head, computer, etc. Then there were two. Then seventeen.

We are diligent with emptying our trash every day, no one has food sitting out, but they won't go away! The guy at the desk next to me is going to give me a heart attack by <SLAP> trying to kill the bugs in mid-air when I'm busy at work. This has been going on for a couple weeks now, and it doesn't seem to be disappearing.

What can I do to get rid of them without introducing a spray or chemical?

Answers:
Without any more identifying info, since you're in an office environment, my best guess would be fungus gnats. These guys live and grow in potted plants that may have gotten over-watered and got some mold in the soil.

Be sure to allow soils to dry completely between waterings and you may want to spray with a fungicide.

We had what sounds like the same problem in our office. The bugs were really small.gnat size...but they increased in numbers rapidly.

We found out they were coming from the dirt in potted plants. The solution was to mix one tablespoon of amonia to one gallon of water and water the plants. It worked for us...killed the bugs but I guess it wasn't strong enough to hurt the plants...they are still alive.
