My purple morning glories & blue havens have started to go a greeny yellow colour in the leaves, why is this?

Question:I had a beautiful bloom last year of these climers, I have repeated the same method as last year of growing from seed, to planting out in the garden. They are only a foot high and after they have gone white in colour, they dry up and wilt. Can anybody help?

Answers:
First suspect it too much sunlight. Have you cut down any trees or done anything to expose them to more sun? If so that is probably the cause of the problem.

If not it might be nutritional. Planting the same plant year after year in the same place can deplete the soil of nutrients. This year try slow-release fertilizer (like Osmocote) and next year before planting try ammending the soil with compost and other organic matter.

If you're growing them in the same spot as last year, They may have worn out the soil... they can be pretty heavy feeders.

Try any of the commercial fertilizers for plants already planted. Next year you may want to dig in some compost or manure before planting them...
