How to make delegating a job to some one older than me easier?

Question:

Answers:
It's hard sometimes, but try to mentally put yourself at least on the same plane as that person. Don't imagine that their age puts them above you.
Be confident in your ability and knowledge and forget about age.
Hope that helps.
Good luck and God bless!!

Come at it from the standpoint of needing their help and expertice. It is not weak to compliment when asking someone to do something. Let them know it is important to you and you want it done right, that is why you turned to them. Usually, when people feel needed, they will bend over backwards to help.
This is a mental thing. Age should not matter. You have one of two reasons for the delegation. One, you are higher in the company than that person. The company thought you were better suited for the higher position than that person. Two, you are paying the person to do the job. If you are paying them then you are the boss of the project and you are instructing them in what needs to be done. In either case if they are any good they will bring up any objections if there is a problem with what you are asking them to do.
