Jolly good mate. I pay $32 (16 quid?) quarterly for a 60 gallon container 26 times a year. That includes recycle charge.

In my village in Thailand I pay about £3 per year and rubbish is collected 3 times a week.
this takes the mick, they pick ours up fortnightly, and picture this..i have a 1 year old son whom needs his nappies changing many times during the day,week, fortnight. on the day the rubbish is collected alone it is changed at least 5 times.AT LEAST. then, on the next monday they pick up the rubbish, if the lid is open, they leave the bin!!!! don't bother with it and they walk right past. leaving me with month old festering nappies at the side of the road. you can't tell me that the government scientists agree that THAT is still healthy, well wrapped or not.and as for "well wrapped rubbish should cause no problems" tell the neighbours cats whom love to open all the bags on the street, and the owners of the cats who bring home the growing number of mice in the gardens, or the owner of the cat that went missing, and now suspects the growing rat population for the missing kitten.
it's all in the name of recycling to save our planet. i am a great believer of recycling, i also think saving the planet is a hugly worthy cause, but at the expense of all british life? bubonic plague will rear its ugly head and the black death will claim us all.
either that or the film 28 days later comes true, and we all die zombies at the hands of cillian murphey.(i'm up for that.lol.)
We are just outside Brisbane Australia and our local council (Logan) charge AU$38.50 per quarter, for a weekly service, approx exchange is 40p = $1.
A friend of mine has had enough sold up and went to spain 3 yrs ago, he rents some of the ground out and works 3 day`s a week, his yearly council tax £90 per year.
i work for a local authority, and in our borough we are weekly collection, and there are no plans for fortnightly.and we get this all the time with phone calls about missed waste and i pay my council tax.i can tell you from each house hold we receive 30.00 a year.
And those have gone fortnightly from weekly, have now realised how luckily they were.
I put mine in front of the neighbors house it doesnt cost me anything. lol
