These new Energy Saver light bulbs are crap?
Question:They are advertised to last 3-4 years and I just now had the first one blow out after about 3 months. Anyone else with similar stories? What brand also.
Answers:
Good for you! Thanks for saving our planet. Maybe you could e-mail the company that makes the bulbs and tell them about it. Hopefully they might care. I would switch the brand after that doesn't work. I do not have any problem with my light bulbs GE.
I love them, and they do last a long time. Just don't buy Philips.
I use Ge and not had any trouble. Take the bulb back.
If your referring to the new flourescent type of screw in light bulbs they should normally last longer than that. The more serious problem with these bulbs is that if you break one you have a potentially serious mercury poisoning problem on your hands. They all contain dangerous levels of mercury and if broken that mercury is now spread around your room/house. It can take hundreds to over a thousand dollars to professionally clean the mercury from your house and if you don't you could potentially suffer mercury poisoning. Thats a little tidbit they leave off all of the advertisements about these things.
i have very good luck with mine. if you are using them for outside lighting they some times do not last that long because of tempeture changes.
i noticed a big difference in my power bill. but i don't think all of them last as long as they say. i might try getting GE next time
You better stock up on incandescent. Freakin PC global drama queens are trying to ban them in CA. They'll pry mine out of my cold, dead, mercury free hands the freaking bastards.
You know that's how they killed kenny don't you.
God Bless
