Small black and white bird has built nest under my roof overhang. Nest made of small stones. What bird is it?

Question:My guess is swallow or starling

Answers:
This sounds very much like a House Martin to me.

Are you sure the nest is made of small stones and not mud? Take another look at it, as when the mud solidifies, it could look like small stones.

The House Martins nest exclusively on buildings, building a mud nest under eaves, so commonly found in towns and villages, but hunts for insect food over all kinds of open country.

Do a Google search on the House Martin.

It could be a swallow but it's not small stones, it's mud put on in blobs that make it look like stones.
It could also be a house martin.
swallow we had them once, when they;ve finished nesting you can take it down but not before.
House Martin
sounds more like a house martin to me... my grandad used to always get families of house martins nesting under the overhang of his roof... used to be able to get a really good view of them from his bedroom window.

if u search online, i'm sure u will be able to find a picture of a house martin. just type it into the search engine.
Most likely a swallow or house martin, and it is not small stones but small balls of mud that the bird very patiently builds, if you leave the nest it well may be used next year, all the bird has to do is some diy and it will save them a lot of time building every year.If you try and imagine how small there beak or bill is you will realise how many flights it has to do to make all those little blobs you think are stones
They are probably Housemartins - black and white, darting in and out and their nest is like a growth of mud, stones and sticks.

We have the same couple, (or maybe they are squatters), returning year after year. How lovely, until you look at the **** all over the windows that is.

Apparently, after the babies have flown the nest and they piste off to warmer climes you should lean out of the window and smash the nest to pieces and the next year they will ignore that area ... but i never have the heart ..so they keep returning and rearing their babies and I have the same (big) clumps of crap all over the show .. ALSO my attic was made into a bedroom in January and the dawn chorus at four in the morning is not at all amusing.
sounds like swallow - if you watch Springwatch on BBC2 at 8pm tonight(Monday) you will see a nest that sounds like your description and hopefully this will solve your problem(if you're in the uk)
this sounds like a house martin to me ,they don,t do any harm ,they usually clear off after the babies have flown away.
The bird is called a house martin "Delichon Urbia" they are similar to swallows. If theres a river back near your house you might see a sand martin "Riparia Riparia" but they are brown and white.
