It depends on the mattress. If it is one which has aeration holes at the sides then yes it should be fine, but if the mattress doesn't have a zip on/off washable cover then abandon it ! The average full grown human body can lose up to 2 pints of fluid per night during 8 hours sleep plus all the skin we shed. If you do not have a proper washable mattress cover, your lovely memory foam mattress will become a seething morass of little bed mates quite quickly and become soggy and smell. If it gets to that state it will also affect the sustainability of the bed slats. Check out your mattress construction.
