Need to finish my walls?

Question:I am a 27 year old widowed mother who has a journeyman’s card as a Toolmaker and well I’m not afraid to admit I am ignorant when it comes to certain things and well there is only one way to cure ignorance so... I have a few questions. I just got into a larger home and well it’s only half way remodeled. They got as far as getting the new dry wall put up and half way finished so now I have a house that is half unfinished dry wall and half that has this pretty stucco looking finish. To me it appears that they threw some drywall mud up there smoothed it out and went at it with a sponge, am I wrong? Is it not what it appears to be to me? I have tried to look up this technique with no luck. Can someone give me a hand in figuring out what I need t do to finish the job at hand?

Answers:
You actually LIKE that finish? I am in the process of getting RID OF IT on my livingroom walls--I figured that the easiest route for me to go about it is to just replace the drywall (and incidentally insulate between my inside walls, which this old house doesn't have).

All you have to do is buy inside stucco at your home store. I found you this website to give you tips on how to apply it...

Do you plan on continuing the Venetian look through the rest of the house with exposed beaming and chunky hardwood floors? If the look is developed right it could look quite nice!

Maybe its a hawk and trowel applied 'Spanish' texture.
Thats if its exterior stucco Maybe google 'skiptroweling'.
Smoothing drywall mud with a sponge is floating and is aimed at winding up with a nice, smooth glossy finish. Like for in kitchens and baths and skylights, etc.
Other than that, I don't know...

Good luck!
