The right time to plant a vegetable garden?

Question:We live in zone 5. When is it o.k. to plant our garden

Answers:
Go ask your garden center what your last frost date is. Zone 5 is generally around the 10th of May. Tomatoes generally like the lowest temps to not be lower than 50degrees. Other plants vary, but most summer veggies need it to be relatively warm for them to flourish.I used to live in northeast Ohio, which is zone 5 and I used to try to have my garden in by the middle of May. You have to be careful though, because even after the last frost date it can frost or even snow. You should watch the weather carefully and cover your plants with old sheets or newspaper if the temps are going to drop. Remove sheets before the temps climb again or you will "cook" your plants. Good luck!

i always plant mine frist day of spring. or i go buy the old farmers altamac
