Polyurethane laminate floors?

Question:I have dogs and kids and laminate wood flooring. It's starting to separate in places and warp in others. I wanted to know if I could polurethane it to protect it and make it easy to clean.

Answers:
The above answer is a good answer, but, you CAN poly over laminate, it's just not recommended. If you do though, use water based poly and apply a thin coat. You also need to screen(sand) the existing floor with a 120 grit or 150 grit screen before coating.

Sorry, but it won't work. The finish of your laminate will not accept poly well and it will peel and crack. Laminate floors also move a lot making them a bad candidate for polyurethane.
