Mockingbird nests?

Question:a mockingbird has built a nest in a bush maybe 20 feet away (if that) from my front porch. My mom said that when the bird laid her eggs she would attack people on my porch. I don't allow smoking in my house so the porch is where people go out to smoke. also we spend alot of time on our porch. Any truth to what she said? I don't want myself or anyone else to be attacked. All answers appreciated!

The mockingbirds will buzz by your head when
you past by their nest when the little ones
hatch. I've never been hit by one but they do
come pretty close. I don't think they will come
onto the porch to give you a thrill but the action
will be a good conversation piece while you're
smoking.
They used to attact my chihuahua when I let
her out and she always forgot for what reason
I let her out. Have fun.
