I'm trying to not bring the roaches with me! HELP!?

Question:We are moving from an apartment to a house. The apt we are living in has roaches. I'm not sure of how big of a problem it is because I've never had roaches before. I probably see 3-4 roaches a day. I don't want to bring these roaches to our new house. I have bought boric acid and roach motels to set out in the apt. We are not moving for another 2 weeks so hopefully there is time for them to die before we move. We don't have a lot of money so an exterminator or a uhaul is out of the question. What can I do to leave the roaches here and not move them to our new house?

Answers:
We moved from a roach infested discusting apartment and I sprayed all of my moving boxes on the inside and outside before I packed and we didn't bring any to our new house.

use the roach baits they kill for 3 months including their eggs
First bomb your new location b4 moving in, put boric acid at the base of the floor and go around the whole house & kitchen. dont leave food out and they should be gone in a week or three.
i would try 20 mule team borax that will kill them
You can either unpack everything outside the new house , shake out everything or get the roach killing gel. Im not sure who makes it but I heard it works great. I know someone who had them for two years used every exterminator in the phone book and never got rid of them until the gel. I have a friend who is an exterminator and he says studies show that every roach you see there are one thousand roaches im your home. they are normally in the walls. Do not keep brown bags or leave open the pet food . Those are two things they really love. If you have pets only give them what they will eat , store the rest in an air tight container.
If at all possible, unpack the boxes outside of the house. I know this sounds crazy, but I have moved often enough to know it can be done. Also, spray and "shake up" all furniture before you bring it inside the new home. Then after you have moved in have a professional exterminator spray just in case you missed anything. Cockaroaches can multiply quickly and even one or two can lead to an infestation.
Bug bombs! Get yourself and your pets out of the apartment, then set off some Bug bombs! You will have to stay out a few hours, but all of your bugs will be dead!
Put one in the kitchen, one in the livingroom and one in the bedroom and leave the bathroom door open. Cover all of your personal belongings with a plastic tarp or put them in trash bags. If there are boxes, no need to cover them. but do not expose your food or dishes silverware pots and pans to the bombs. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's.
I don't know the name of the product but there is a spray that neutralizes roaches so they can breed. If you ask some one at a home center they will know what it is called. Just spray areas where they live and travel and in no time the roaches will be gone.

If you do happen to transfer one or two in your belongings then it won't matter because it will not be able to reproduce and will soon die.

This product is very inexpensive and works very well. We bought a house that had roaches. We used this stuff and never saw another roach for the ten years we lived there.
Make sure you check all your books, they love paper. Try not to pack to far in advance cause they will crawl into the boxes. It doesn't sound like you have a really bad problem in the apt. Try not to use boxes you gather off the street, if you do make sure youreally check them before you pack them. Check all the food stuff you are moving like cerals and make sure they haven't made a nice little home in there. Good luck.
boric acid we work just fine!!!
