How do i get rid of nursery web spiders that keep coming up out of the bath tub drain?
Question:It seems like every time we go to take a shower there is a nursery web spider in the bath tub and we know they are coming up from the drain. We kill the ones we see but there are always more coming up. does anyone know how to get rid of these spiders in a drain or at least know what is safe to poor down a drian that will kill them?
Answers:
Could you leave the plug in the drain, except when you are running water down the drain? This way, if the spiders are really living down there, this will cut off their food and air supply, as well as access to your tub. They should disappear after a while.
Occasionally I see a large brown spider in our tub, but I thought they crawl in to get water from the drain, and then could not get back up the slippery sides of the tub. I never heard of a nursery web spider. The ones I see are the kind that makes a web like white cotton candy with a little tunnel in the center. I wouldn't use chemicals, but I don't think it is too bad to kill a spider once in a while. They multiply quite fast, and are not endangered. Sometimes I catch them in a glass and let them go outdoors... bugs don't scare me, but I'd rather not share the house with them either!
It won't kill them 'cause spiders a precious parts of our ecosystem and they catch lots of lies etc, but to stop them climbing up your plug hole the easiest and safest way is to wipe ordinary vegetable oil around the edge of your plug whole so that it runs down inside the drain and they will not be able to get their webs to stick and come up the drain, far better than trying to kill them or putting chemicals down your drains.
