I have a large cone shaped web in tree in my garden what is it?

Question:i have a large cone shaped web high in tree in my garden no leaves where nest/web is what could it be?

Answers:
It could really be a number of things. Likely a Tree Wasp nest, often found high in oak trees. I don't know what kind of tree you are talking about.

Check out http://www.whatsthatbug.com/ and you should find a photo of your "web". Its the best website I have found for entomological identification. You can even send them a photo and they'll have it identified for you, if you can't find an existing case on the site, which, in my experience, is unusual.

I'm no expert but I heard that funnelweb spiders make webs like that.
You have tent caterpillars and need to spray with bug killer or remove by hand
a spiders nest
Could be a beehive. Be careful and consider help with this matter as it could be dangerous and you will need help getting rid of it!
catepillars.
get out the Chlordane or Dursban. These chemicals work on almost anything and there Al Gore approved!
Sounds like a bee or wasp or possibly hornet nest (depending where you live). You will need to call pest control to get rid of this as can be very dangerous.
Its an Fallonhoof, actually a very large spider, looking like a tree, ready to eat whatever comes close to it.
weel i guess it is what you would call ...a large web coned web...
what ever it is please leave it alone
If it`s large and coned it could be hornet`s
