Problem w/my spider plant.?

Question:Just how do you take care of a spider plant? My husband got it at a garage sale last year, and hes struggling to keep it alive. He had to split it up in several other pots. He lost some of them, however the remaining ones, the tip of the leaves are brown. Other than that they look good. Is this normal, or are we not giving it enough water (or to much), or sun?

Answers:
I've had trouble keeping them alive too, mostly because I think my climate is too dry. But I've read that brown leaf tips on a spider plant is because they are super picky about their water, they like distilled. If you put a bit of fertilizer in it (1/4 tsp. to a gallon) that should be good food for them. You can snip off the brown tips.

The tips of spider plants turn brown when they've been touched. There is nothing wrong with them. Don't give spider plants too much water, let them go dry before you water them again.
If it has been repotted it will take time to grow more roots. You can give it some balanced plant food once a month and just keep it moist, not soaked. It should turn around in a bit once it establishes new roots. The brown tips should disappear soon. You can just cut off the brown tips of the leaves to make the plant look better.
Maybe too much or too little water plus insects and mites are the main problems. Spider plants grow best with bright indirect light. Temperatures between 65 and 75 ° F during the day and 50 to 55 °F at night are ideal. Move spider plants a few feet from windows to protect them from drafts during the winter. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, but midday light may scorch leaves. Spider plants should dry out briefly between waterings. Check their soil daily. A general-purpose potting soil is suitable for spider plants. Feed plants during periods of active growth with a water-soluble or a time release houseplant fertilizer. Follow the label recommendations. If your plants are in a problematic state then its better to consult a botanist in your area...

hope I helped^^
It's too much water. Back off for some days and look every day then you'll see improvement
hi, you may want to transplant the sp. plant into new soil, make sure it's got plenty of room to grow, this plant like to b in part sun / shade, does not like alot of water, use fish ferterlizer( @ Wal-mart, )... as far as the ends bein brown it is normal, I cut the bottoms / tips @ an angle to make the plant look nicer. Happy Gardening!!
