Gophers helpppppppp!!?
Question:is there anyway to rid of gophers without using an expensive exterminator?

Go to tractor supply and by gophers traps they will show you how to set them
A .22 is a possibility certainly if you're out of town.
With patience, they can also be snared. Make a loop and place it around the hole. When they come up, you're watching from 20 or 30 feet and give it a yank.
My mom used to do it with water and a dog as well. If you know where both holes are (sometimes there's only one), you pour enough water down the hole to bring them up and the dog grabs it.
Others have used propane and forced the gas down the hole then ignited it -- probably not recommended!
Still others use gaseous nitrogen (farm fertilizer) and gas them out.
Rat or gopher traps can be effective.
Poison has been used, but has fallen out of use because of effects on other animals.
Get creative. It's now you against them. You can win!
