How can I cool a living room with vaulted ceilings?

Question:The central air is on 24/7 and it's still 80 in here!! We have a ceiling fan too and that seems to do absolutely nothing! HELP, it's so hot in here I can't take it anymore!!

Answers:
try using a dehumidifier to remove some of the moisture, excess moisture makes it seem hotter than it is. If that doesn't work, go to The Home Depot or Lowe's and purchase a high velocity 1' fan from Lakewood or another respectable name and some flexible (thin paper-like plastic with wire in it) dryer vent pipe, attach it to the fan, and put the other end up high near the ceiling (a thmb tack or two should hold it up), open a window/exterior door, place the fan near the opening, and turn it on high to suck the hot air out. To cover the large hole left by the open door/window, buy flexible sheet plastic, cut to size with scissors, and tape to the frame around the opening, just be sure to let the air pass unblocked or you might have a fire on your hands. To store, simply push the end of the vent pipe together and it will collapse, then tie some string around it.

do you have any windows that you can cover or tint
Maybe your fan needs to have the blades run the other way?
maybe you need to have your house looked at back a hvac tech to see if you duct works are sized right and if you have the the correct tons of air
