How can i clean my emerald rough to see if any pieces are good enough to facet?

People who work with gems use a small powerful light to look into the stone. I use a bore scope available at gun stores or where firearm cleaning gear is sold. Rio Grand Jewelry Supply has a selection of 3 styles from $10.95 - 32.95. (www.riogrande.com). However, you could probably get away with the miniature MAG-LITE key chain for about $6.00 - 8.00.
May be a little TMI.
If there is matrix attached you can use an ultra sonic cleaner to loosen the debris. However, you may also loosen any fault lines in the gem at the same time.
If the matrix allows the light to enter and exit the stone you may see what is or is not there.
