Carpet has raised areas and I need to stretch it. What is the procedure?

Question:

Answers:
My family has been installing wall to wall carpeting since 1926. You need to have a floor mechanic look at the situation to see IF it can be corrected. It AINT as simple as it LOOKS.

if you are dealing with a woven backed carpet get a knee kicker and restrech it over the tack strips, it probably wasn't streched in tight enough when it was installed, or the house shifted and loosened it up in a spot. If it is an attached pad carpet it's probably loose laid or taped down. In that case pull it up and tape it, or retape it...if it's glued down you have alot of work ahead of you and I would leave it, or replace it
It sounds like too much fluid, and too often steam cleaning. Sounds ruined. Good luck. Second answer seems right, but I would compare to replacement, as the fix might be only temporary.
