Charcoal in fire pit?
Question:Is the only reason the mfr says NO charcoal in backyard steel fire pit cosmetic? Any other issues? This is not copper so toxicity should not be a problem. It is one of the bowl shaped ones that are popular now, not a pit in the ground.
Answers:
CHARCOAL GETS VERY VERY HOT SO IT COULD BE THE REASON OR MAYBE IT IS JUST BECAUSE IT IS MESSY BECAUSE OF THE ASHES
Charcol could burn hotter and maybe melt the steel.
My guess is that it has to do with the heat of the embers. Probably thos coals will have a hotter ember, and melt the bowl enough that it could crack or break open.
Charcoal burns hotter and longer. Continued use could weaken the welds, and bolts which hold the pit together.
